Appropriate Procedures for the Selection of Sponsors in Business Turnarounds

Theme:The appropriate and early selection of sponsors who play a pivotal role in business turnaround proceedings would not only contribute to the preservation and increase of the business value of the debtors, but would also result in the maximization of the rate of repayment to the creditors. It is difficult, however, to argue how to select sponsors in a single uniform way since the methods of business turnarounds vary depending on the characteristics and/or causes of the situation of each business of each debtor, the degree of difficulty of the continuation of the debtor's business, and so on.
However, even with such circumstances in the background, it is still helpful to examine the appropriate procedures for the selection of sponsors from a practical viewpoint. In this symposium, we will have comprehensive discussions, including the reporting of research results and the examination of problems to be solved, with a view to fostering and achieving a practical consensus.
