Current Developments in U.S. Antitrust Laws and Cross-Border M&A ~Consideration for Japanese Businesses: International Cartel Investigations・Litigation・M&A Activities~
2017.11.28
Recently, competition authorities around the world have become increasingly vigilant in enforcing international cartel activities, and global companies are progressively managing these antitrust risks. In particular, Japanese businesses have been subject to severe sanctions by the U.S., EU, and Japanese competition authorities, and are currently in the midst of mitigating antitrust risks. In addition, we have seen shifts in M&A activities and personnel within the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) due to the change from the Obama Administration to the Trump Administration starting in January 2017.
Oh-Ebashi LPC & Partners will be holding a seminar on the subject of 'Current Developments in U.S. Antitrust Laws and Cross-Border M&A.' Panelist for this seminar will include attorneys with expertise in the field of antitrust and cross-border M&A, from the law firm of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, one the leading law firms in the U.S. This seminar will discuss the latest developments in U.S. and Japanese competition authorities.
In the first part of the seminar, discussions will include updates and developments regarding the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC), U.S. DOJ, and U.S. FTC.
The second part of the seminar will include a general summary on the process and procedures of cartel investigations at the JFTC and U.S. DOJ, as well as how civil litigations generally proceed in the U.S.
The last segment of the seminar will provide a primer on mergers and acquisitions activities which may impact companies in Japan and the intersection with US antitrust laws.
The seminar will be presented in English, with consecutive interpretations provided in Japanese. We would be pleased if you could join us for this seminar. We are looking forward to your participation.
