In Europe, on December 9, 2023, the European Union announced that a provisional agreement applicable in EU region had been reached on AI regulations (EU AI Act). On February 2, 2024, a draft of AI regulations was released and on May 21, 2024, "Council gives final green light to the first worldwide rules on AI" (https://www.consilium.europa.eu/en/press/press-releases/2024/05/21/artificial-intelligence-ai-act-council-gives-final-green-light-to-the-first-worldwide-rules-on-ai/). In this lecture, in light of these recent trends, speakers will explain about "Patenting AI inventions at the European Patent Office: chances, limits and pitfalls", "Infringement of AI patents - can you prove it?", and "Regulating AI: the proposed European Union AI Act". Speakers will also explain the comparison with the status of AI regulations/inventions in Japan. Speakers will discuss the issues that Japanese companies should understand through discussions between the speakers.

This lecture provides a special opportunity to invite lawyers at a law firm specializing in intellectual property in Germany, who are involved in a lot of applications, litigations, and procedures at patent office, and to talk with them in person.
